Body Shop Matcha Tea Mask Description

This Matcha Tea Mask is made and enriched with Japanese matcha green tea leaves from Kakegawa, Japan. Green tea is a known antiseptic, anti-cancer, and soothing ingredient in many skin care products. This mask also contains detoxifying dandelion root extract that gets rid of impurities and pollutants from the skin. Mexican Aloe vera gel extract also allows the mask to calm and relieve the skin from irritation and dryness.

This mask is advertised to use a vegan formula to gently exfoliate, deeply purify, and free the skin from an unhealthy and damaging build up of pollutants and impurities from the environment. The mask also claims to reveal a more radiant, younger-looking skin.

Based on trial result studies with 103 participants, 91% of the women agreed that they felt the removal of pollutants from their skin and that their skin looked and felt better after using the mask. It also does not contain any paraffin, mineral oil, or silicones.

Overview

The Body Shop was founded by Dame Anita Roddick in 1976 in Brighton, England. She started formulating her own products and was inspired to make a business out of it with a vision of becoming a force for ethical beauty and serious purpose for the greater good.

The company claims to use the best ethically-sourced ingredients to create nature-inspired beauty products. They also claim to be 100% vegetarian and firmly against animal testing and cruelty. They also get their supplies from small farmers and communities as part of their charity work and Community Trade program. However, many Matcha Mask Body Shop Reviews complain about irritation due to the botanical ingredients included in the products.

The company suggests using the mask after removing your makeup and cleansing and patting the skin dry. Then, apply a smooth, even layer of the matcha mask on your neck, face, and decollete using your fingers or with the help of a brush, avoiding your lips and eyes. Leave the mask on for 5 to 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water while massaging in circular motions to exfoliate the skin. Use it twice to thrice a week for best results.

Body Shop Matcha Tea Mask Ingredient

  • Matcha Green Tea Powder s: Derived from the green tea leaves harvested from the foothills of Mt. Fuji, this ingredient is of high quality. It contains catechins, powerful antioxidants that fight against pollution, free radical damage, and skin aging by providing enzymes and nutrients. However, due to its caffeine content, it can trigger side effects and allergic reactions.
  • Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil: When applied on the skin, olive oil can help protect against ultraviolet damage and other skin conditions. It also helps treat psoriasis, accelerate wound healing, and treat minor burns. However, it has been associated with delayed allergic responses and contact dermatitis[1].
  • Glycerin: May help skin retain moisture while reducing inflammation but also can cause skin irritation to sensitive skin.
  • Aloe Vera Gel Powder: Aloe vera is known to be effective in wound therapy. It also has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and soothing properties that help in the treatment of skin rashes, burns, acne, and psoriasis. However, it can cause skin abrasion, burning sensations, itching, and redness.

Product Price & Quantity

You can purchase a 2.5 fl oz or about 74 ml jar for $28.00 from the official product website or other online retail sellers.

Should You Buy It?

Undeniably, the Japanese Matcha Tea Mask Benefits seem to be appealing and impressive. However, a closer look and inspection of the ingredients list showed that the active ingredients could also cause several adverse side effects such as allergic reactions, irritation, redness, stinging, contact dermatitis, and more. This is a usual disadvantage of using botanical and nature-based ingredients.

Further, the mask comes in an unhygienic jar container. It is also a challenge to apply because of its chunky consistency due to the exfoliating particles.

While it does somehow improve the skin’s quality and appearance, its effects are pretty short-lived and unsatisfactory for its price.

Does It Come With a Guarantee?

According to the product website, you can return an unopened product item within 14 days upon purchase. You can also return it for a full refund within 28 days even if it is used and opened if you find it damaged, expired, or unsuitable for use.
