1. What Is Teen Choice Award? The Who’s And The Whys!

The Teen’s Choice Awards is a show aired on Fox television network annually. It celebrates the year’s largest achievements in sports, music, film, television, fashion, and more.

Everything is controlled by teens with age 13 to 19 , from picking awards, choosing the nominees, and of course, voting for winners. Categories tend to be a mix of previous favorites and brand new ones every year.

It all started when executive producers Michael Burg and Bob Bain put their heads together to come up with an award that highlights the teen population, one with an older audience than the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards but similar to MTV.

The first awards show was aired on August 1, 1999, and held at the Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar. On the years that followed, the locations changed but remained within California. Ever since then, Paul Flattery served as the show’s producer while Greg Sills has been supervising producer.

Ballots were used for the first awards show, where teens bought and tore out their ballots, although vote casting was also already available online. Today, votes are exclusively cast online through FOX.com, the FOX NOW app, or Twitter, with more than 37 million votes last year.

Since the show is being done every summer, winners are given genuine custom-made surfboards to embody the teens’ freedom during summer vacation.

The two-hour event honors every year’s icons from the best TV shows, most-loved movies, the best Music, and most memorable moments in fashion with the much-coveted and awaited Teen Choice Surfboard Awards.

Each show is not only anticipated for the awards, but also for the featured appearances and performances of some of the industry’s current brightest stars.

Last year, the show was hosted by John Cena, American Grit, and WWE superstar, along with recording artist and actress Victoria Justice. Featured appearances included those of Ashley Benson, Jessica Alba, Cat Deeley, Kobe Bryant, Jennifer Garner, Chris Evans, Lea Michele, Ne-yo, Sarah Hyland, Shay Mitchell, Justin Timberlake, and Daisy Ridley.

Amazing performances were also delivered by Jason Derulo, Flo Rida, Empire’s Serayah, and Charlie Puth.
