They are types of artificial nails created from two different acrylic products known as the liquid monomer and powdered polymer. For this removal, you will need a nail clipper, fine grade buffer, Bowl, Acetone solution, petroleum jelly, foil and cotton balls, moisturizer, and old towels if possible.

  First, you will have to trim the acrylic nails shorter as possible. When cutting them, ensure you take care of the nail bed. An alternative means of cutting off the acrylic nails is using a coarse nail file. When removing acrylic nails ensure they are cut off first to facilitate easy removal.

• Use a Fine Grade Buffer To Scrap Off The Topcoat

  The fine grade buffer can help eradicating the acrylic and paint from the nail. When filing, always use the long strokes that cover the size of the nail.

• Place Acetone Solution In The Bowl

  Fill a bowl halfway with acetone solution. The solution should be deep enough to cover all the fingertips.

• Cover The Tips Around Your Fingers With Petroleum Jelly

  Since Acetone solution is used to dissolve plastic, it might be reactive to your skin in the process of removing acrylic nails at home. Therefore, when using the solution, always remember to protect yourself by protecting the skin around your nails from being irritated. Apply a little petroleum jelly to the skin of the fingers. A cotton-tipped applicator can help when applying the jelly. The nails should be left bear.

• Cover The Nails With Acetone Solution

  The next step should be covering your nails with saturated cotton balls and the foil. Each wet cotton ball should be covered with one finger and then covered with the aluminum foil or a nom plastic tape. If you know your skin is not irritated by acetone, you can directly soak the nails in the bowl.

• Removing The Covered Cotton Balls From Your Fingers

However, if you directly soaked your fingers in solution, you can use an orange wood stick to pry them off gently.   After removing acrylic nails with the solution, the remaining ones can be easily buffed away. You can then use clippers or nail files to shape your natural nails easily. Since acetone can make the skin dry, the remaining traces should be washed with water and soap. After washing the hands, you are advised to moisturize them with body oil or lotion.

2. Use Of Nail File

This is another alternative to removing acrylic nails. The following are the guidelines on how to go about the method.

• Trim the tips of the acrylic nails with a clipper. Ensure they are trimmed short. However, if the acrylic nails are hard to trim off, you can use a coarse nail file to reduce them in size.
• You can then file away each acrylic nail using a buffing tool carefully. Use the tool to remove as much acrylic as possible.
• To remove all the traces, you can lift the edges using a cuticle stick and use the tip of its scissors to clip away the remaining traces of acrylic nails. The last traces can be removed by use of a nail buffer.

3. Use Of Floss And Metal File

This method of removing acrylic nails at home is simple but needs two people to make it fast.

• At the beginning of the process, you take the metal file and tip the nail thus lifting it top enough to slip the dental floss below.
• Wrap the dental floss index fingers of both hands of the person helping you. Then slip the floss under the created edge and allow the other person to pull gently in a slow movement towards the end of the nail bed. The acrylic nail will be removed just easily.
